Restaurant Kai is aptly named. Kai is the Hawaiian word for ocean and from this restaurant's setting on the northern end of the resort, expansive views of serene Keauhou Bay and the Kona Coastline make it a prime dining spot. Here, in an area once known as "Pa'akai Point" ancient Hawaiians collected precious sea salt. Today, as then, rolling surf collides against black lava outcroppings where pockets of water collect, evaporate and leave salt drying in the hot Hawaiian sun.
For breakfast, Kai offers a lavish buffet of morning favorites punctuated by fresh tropical fruits and juices. Families applaud kid-friendly selections and adults appreciate the variety of healthy selections.
Breakfast served 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
In the evening Kai is transformed to showcase a backdrop of shimmering moonlight amidst a luxuriant setting. To celebrate the ocean, seafood highlights the dinner menu of surprising sophistication that fuses the cuisines of many cultures of Hawaii in delightful flavor combinations. Each Saturday evening, Kai presents a bountiful buffet headlined by tender Roast Prime Rib of Beef and each Wednesday is Kai's Crab night.
Dinner served 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday evenings.
